Since 1901

For 125 years, this corner of Allison Hill has been a Catholic home.

Founded in 1901 by Bishop John W. Shanahan. Capuchin Franciscan friars walked these streets in brown robes for nineteen years. In June 2024, our parish welcomed Father Anthony R. Dill — a canon lawyer and son of this diocese — to lead us into our second 125 years. The first Spanish Mass was offered here in 1968. The Soup Kitchen has fed neighbors at the noon hour since 1981. The doors have been open through every change.

Three Soup Kitchen volunteers in aprons stand in the parish kitchen with prepared salad and serving counters.

At the Table · A la Mesa

We feed our neighbors.

Every time I see this line, all I can think of is Jesus in the bread line.

— Father Manuel Avilés, OFM Cap.

The St. Francis Soup Kitchen has served hot meals to anyone who walks through the door, six days a week, since 1981. Dine-in 12:00–12:45 weekdays, plus Saturday take-out 11 AM–noon.

Three traditions our community carries — passed from our grandparents in Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, México, and beyond. They are part of the parish year as much as Christmas and Easter.
